Why we build
Local business owners are part of what make our communities great. They risk everything – years of their lives, their families, their savings – to pursue their dreams.
They’re not just important for our economy, creating the majority of new jobs. They also represent hope in our communities. They remind us that it’s possible to rise from being an entry-level worker to becoming a business owner one day, as 70% of restaurant owners do.
But they’re going to go extinct if something doesn’t change. Because corporations are destroying them. Large tech corporations like Yelp and GrubHub are stealing their customer relationships and destroying their profits with predatory practices.
Large restaurant corporations like Domino's are also destroying mom and pop business owners. They can afford to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on the latest marketing and technology which give them unfair advantages.
We’re building the platform that levels the playing field, and helps them not only survive but thrive. Our technology gives the technology superpowers of Chipotle to the local taqueria so that they can fight back against the large corporations.

1. Focus on customer success
We embrace the truth that customer success is our success, and prioritize that above all else. It is the first thing we think about in all that we do. We treat customer relationships like we expect them to last decades, never optimizing for short-term over long-term. We align our incentives with our customers. We are generous with our time to go above and beyond for our customers, and aim to deliver the best experiences they’ve ever had with any company.
2. Move fast like our success depends on it
We live or die by how fast we get things done. Speed is the most important advantage that startups have. We set aggressive timelines that the world tells us are impossible. We do not depend on external folks for our core timelines — whether they are vendors, restaurant partners, or even other teams. We cannot and will not move at someone else’s pace. We set our own timelines and find a way to make them happen. When setting timelines, we default to thinking in hours and days — not weeks and months.
3. Bring good energy
We’re optimistic about the future and grateful about where we are, and our high-energy culture spills in to the world around us. We celebrate our wins and the wins of our customers. The good vibes brighten every interaction we have with our teammates, customers, and partners. We recognize that startups are too hard to dwell on the negatives, and that part of the challenge is to keep a positive view of the future even while solving the most trying problems.
4. Scale yourself with the company
The first thing that we look for in new teammates is a high rate of learning, because startups change so quickly that learning quickly is necessary for thriving in them. We believe that reading is a superpower because it allows us to learn from experts. We can compress years of their learnings into hours by studying the experiences of experts in books, courses, and interviews. We believe that you must constantly be seeking out insights from people that are better than you. The company is scaling fast and we must scale our knowledge with it to keep pace.
5. Live the Owner mindset
Every person on our team is an owner in our business. Our goal is to inspire our teams rather than to manage them. We trust people on our team to do what they think is best for Owner, giving them freedom and information in support of their decisions. When we see problems, small or large, we never think “that’s not my job”. Instead, we have a sense of responsibility and ownership that pushes us to always go above and beyond to make our business better. Everyone on the team is responsible for consistently improving systems and improving the company by 1% every day, and it is not enough just to execute tasks in the same way every day.
